As the shortened NBA season has finally arrived, it makes me dread the ending of the NFL season. The NFL is the greatest league in North American sports. Although the NFL is not perfect, they are the standard that all other leagues should stride to emulate.
Yet, the NBA continues to put a flawed product out on the court year in and year out. The NBA lockout was suppose to fix the problems created through the NBA over the past couple of seasons. But, the product that can be seen in a town near you still puts on a show the resembles a Harlem Globetrotter team rather than a Professional league.
It all starts with the referees of the game. The NBA is a star driven league, it always has been and always will be. But when does it stop being fun to watch and start to become laughable? Just because a "superstar" player misses a layup does not automatically mean that the player was fouled.
Player, coaches, general managers and commissioners are all held accountable, but it seems like the referees are not held accountable. Too many of the calls are anticipated rather than seen.
The NBA season was cut short too a lockout, but with the ridiculous product that is being put on the floor this season, it is going to be a long winter. Here's looking forward to Spring Training.
